My buddy Jamie’s band, Like Handshakes will be releasing their first album, “Tongues” on February 18th. So I’m suggesting y’all take your narrow behinds on over to their bandcamp page and have a listen. If you like it, pre-order it. If you like it and can’t afford the quite minuscule amount of money it costs to pre-order it, then beg for the money, sell some stuff, get a job, or just tell everyone you know about it. And there are two tracks for free, so really you have no excuse.

Let me just say this isn’t just a shameless plug for Jamie since he is my friend. Oh, how highly you must think of me. But the fact is he is genuinely talented, as are the other members of the band. They’ve come together and made quite the marvelous album here. Expect folky/acoustic goodness. Expect lyrics that Rilke would have been haunted by, whispering them in his sleep. Expect crescendos and decrescendos that tickle your beauty bone. Expect rhythms that set your heart to handclaps. Expect charisma. Expect character. Expect philosophical intrigue and ennui plucked from the upper-lip of Nietzche. Expect passion that might sound like it was pulled directly out of Lorca’s trousers. Enjoy it.
